Have our technical staff evaluate your immersion heat exchanger needs. Just fill out this technical data sheet with the information that you now have and fax or e-mail it back to us. Our technical support group will perform the calculations for you and respond promptly. Please mention units of measurement where required: e.g., Lbs or Tons, 0F or 0C, feet, inches or mm where appropriate.

YOUR OPERATING DATA

We have created the following questionnaire based on feedback from the field and it is intended to determine your operating conditions as accurately as possible. Please enter available information below as applicable to your present or desired operating conditions. Please note that key questions in RED must be answered for the design process, otherwise unintended delays may occur in our response to you. If you do not have answers to key questions, you may submit the data sheet and we will get back to you for clarification.

TANK DIMENSIONS (Rectangular or cylindrical)

Rectangular Tanks (please specify units):
Long Wide Height

Cylindrical Tanks (if tank standing on base):
Height Diameter

Cylindrical Tanks (if tank is horizontal):
Height Diameter

Liquid Level in Tank
Liquid Volume in Tank

Is Tank Insulated? Yes No

Does the tank have a "lip" or "flange" along its sides?
Yes No

Insulation Thickness if tank is insulated:
(if not insulated enter NO)

Does the tank have a Cover?
Yes No

Manhole
Yes No

Manhole Opening Size: (please specify units)

Agitation: Yes No

Ventilation: Yes No

Deposits/Sludge: Yes No

Are deposits/sludge Heavy / Light?

Are there wind drafts around tank? Yes No

Is the tank located inside a building? Yes No

LOCATION OF HEAT EXCHANGER

Preferred Orientation
Along Width Along Length Bottom Other

BATH MEDIUM Composition (indicate primary chemical component) - If this information is not entered, you must indicate pH and organic or inorganic and the specific heat, specific gravity or density below.

Specific Heat - if known
Density/Specific Gravity: - if known

BATH Starting Temperature (°F or°C)
BATH Finish/Maintain Temperature (°F or °C)

Time Allowed for Heat Up (hours)
- if important for your process, otherwise enter N/A

Please note that size and cost of heat exchanger is sensitive to heat up time. Faster heat up time requires increased heat exchanger size and cost and this may be significantly higher than that required to maintain operating temperature. This is especially true for large tanks, high operating temperatures and low pressure steam (less than 15 psig) and low temperature hot water boilers. We recommend sizing the heat exchanger based on the longest heat up time that your process will allow.

PROCESS INFORMATION – PROCESS TANK

Is this tank a process tank? Yes No
(if the answer is NO go to next section below "OTHER TANK")

If the Answer to the Above is YES, What Material is Being Processed? Fe Silicon Alloy Other Metal

Processing Rate (Tons or Lbs or Kg/Hr)
(please specify units)
Material Temperature In (please specify units)
Material Temperature Out (please specify units)
Specific Heat of Material (please specify units)

PROCESS INFORMATION – OTHER TANK

All questions in this section must be answered if the answer to the first question below is YES.

Is this tank a recirculating tank? Yes No
(note recirculating tank is also referred to storage tank, holding tank etc.)

Do you know the heat load? Yes No
– the heat load is the amount of heat that must be added (by heating) or removed (by cooling) by the heat exchanger in this tank.

What is the liquid temperature coming into this tank?
(please specify units)

What is the liquid temperature going out of this tank?
(please specify units)

What is the flow rate through this tank
(please specify units)

Is there a continuous or batch flow from this tank

Describe the flow in and out of this tank in the "Other Information" block at the end of this questionnaire. If the flow is on a batch or intermittent basis, indicate the flows and time and frequency of the batch flow.

The method of recirculation varies widely. Examples of this may be gravity flow into tank and pumped flow return into material processing tank (pickle tank for example) or the reverse of this flow arrangement. There are numerous variations depending upon the position, location and size of recirculating tank. For example one larger tank may serve one or more material processing tanks.

FOR HEATING ONLY

What is the heating medium?
steam hot water hot mineral oil

Steam Heating:
Steam Pressure Available for Heat Up
(please specify units)
Steam pressure noted here must be available at or near the tank. If a steam regulator is used please indicate here: Yes No

If you have entered steam boiler pressure above and the pressure is 15 psig or below please indicate the approximate distance of boiler from your tank and whether the steam supply line is insulated in the "Other Information" block below.

Hot Water Heating:
Hot Water Temperature available for heating
(please specify units)

Hot Water Outlet Temperature
(if known, please specify units, otherwise enter N/A)

Hot Water (head) Pressure

If your heating method is other than by steam or hot water, please indicate accordingly in the "Other Information" block below and enter the appropriate data under this Hot Water Heating section.

FOR COOLING ONLY WITH WATER OR COOLANT

What is the cooling medium?

Cold Water/Coolant Inlet Temperature
(please specify units)

Water/Coolant (head)Pressure for Cooling
(please specify units)

COLD Water Outlet Temperature
(if known, please specify units, otherwise enter N/A)

Please indicate if there are any space restrictions or interference in the bath

Examples of restrictions may be support structures, air sparge lines, any piping that would restrict the location of the heat exchanger. If you have a maximum space allocated for the heat exchanger please indicate the dimensions of this space. Normally the heat exchanger is mounted directly against a wall and occasionally the thickness of the heat exchanger (i.e., width of space) is limiting for smaller tanks (less than 1000 gallons)

Other Information that is relevant to your tank or operation

Important information regarding your tank or process that is not asked or space provided for in the above questionnaire should be entered here.
