Please note that size and cost of heat exchanger is sensitive to heat up time. Faster heat up time requires increased heat exchanger size and cost and this may be significantly higher than that required to maintain operating temperature. This is especially true for large tanks, high operating temperatures and low pressure steam (less than 15 psig) and low temperature hot water boilers. We recommend sizing the heat exchanger based on the longest heat up time that your process will allow.
